Howard G. Freedman, D.C.

Doctor of Chiropractic


Dr. Howard Freedman earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, New Jersey in 1981. He then earned his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from New York Chiropractic College in 1984. Following a two year internship, Dr. Freedman opened a private practice in 1986 in Delran, New Jersey. In addition to New Jersey, Dr. Freedman is licensed to practice in New York and Pennsylvania. He has been an active member of various state and national Chiropractic associations. He was also a board member of the South Jersey Chiropractic Society throughout the 1990’s and was president of the organization from 1997 through 1999. Dr. Freedman is currently an active member of the ANJC (Association of New Jersey Chiropractors).

In 2009, Dr. Freedman merged his practice with Spinal Health and Rehab Center.

Dr. Freedman received certification from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He holds numerous certifications in Manipulation Under Anesthesia and continues to advance his knowledge with post-graduate education in orthopedics, neurology, diagnostic radiology and nutrition as well as the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and syndromes associated with motor vehicle accidents and sports injuries.


Dr. Freedman currently resides in Marlton, New Jersey and enjoys spending time with his family. In addition to his professional career, Dr. Freedman is also a professional musician and performs at numerous venues throughout the country.


Ronald Parente, D.C.

Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Ronald Parente, DC, is a Certified Chiropractic Insurance Consultant who has been in practice for 24 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Stockton State College, Pomona, NJ; graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA; and completed internships with Palmer Public Clinics and Strang Chiropractic Offices, both in Davenport, IA. Dr. Parente currently holds professional licensures in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Iowa. He has received certification with The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and is an active member of The Association of New Jersey Chiropractors.

Currently, Dr. Parente is in private practice in Pennsauken, NJ and serves as a Chiropractic Medical Director for Consolidated Services Group. Dr. Parente has been an Independent Chiropractic Examiner since 1994, and also serves as a Peer Review, Utilization Review and Pre-Certification Consultant. He frequently serves as a medical expert in trials involving medical malpractice and automobile collision injuries.

While Dr. Parente maintains a varied practice and has advanced training in such topics as sports injuries, wellness and prevention, he has always held a special interest in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of automobile collision injuries. To this end, he has received extensive post-graduate training in orthopedics, whiplash, MRI, radiology Impairment/disability evaluation and other relevant topics. Dr Parente is certified in Peer Review, Independent Medical Examination, Electrodiagnosis (EMG/NCV and SSEP), Impairment Rating and Disability Evaluation, as well as Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) and Kinesio Taping.

In additional to his professional pursuits, Dr. Parente is an avid martial artist. He has studies various styles arising from Japan, Korea and the Philippines. Dr. Parente currently holds several black belts including a 4th degree black belt with teaching certification in Filipino Martial Arts.




Mark Smith, D.C.

Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Mark Smith is a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic. He is a board certified fellow in applied spinal biomechanical engineering, certified in chiropractic biophysics, and is a certified chiropractic sports physician.

After being a solo practitioner for over thirty years Dr. Smith needed a change and joined the Spinal Health and Rehab team in 2012.
It's extremely exciting to work with doctors that have this level of caring and experience. An added bonus is having a physical therapist on staff and a pain management group working side by side with us. This multidisciplinary approach ultimately creates a much more favorable outcome for our patients.



Ronald Zweibaum, D.C.

Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Ronald Zweibaum was the founding chiropractor of Spinal Health and Rehab Center. In 1979, following his recent graduation from New York Chiropractic College, Dr. Zweibaum and his family relocated to Pennsauken, New Jersey, where he has continuously practiced for the past 34 years. During this time, he has furthered his areas of expertise to include rehabilitation and treatment of traumatic injuries of the spine. He has achieved diplomat status eligibility in spinal rehabilitation. Additionally, the list of post graduate coursework that he has attended over the past 3 decades is incredibly extensive and covers areas such as diagnosis, treatment and x-ray and MRI interpretation.

The knowledge obtained through this coursework drives the philosophy of Spinal Health and Rehab Center to provide comprehensive care of the injured patient by combining the best of chiropractic, physical therapy and outside medical consultants all in one location.
Dr. Zweibaum has also been privileged to participate in the world renowned CRASH seminars presented by the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. At these seminars, doctors, engineers and other professionals with expertise in the dynamics of automobile crashes perform and interpret results of live human crash subjects.

Dr. Zweibaum currently resides in Medford, New Jersey with his childhood sweetheart, his wife, Lili. They have two adult children. He is active in community organizations and enjoys music and outdoor activities.



Cortney Hassler, P.T.


Cortney Hassler is a 2003 graduate of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he earned his Masters of Physical Therapy degree. Cortney is originally from Reading, PA where he went to high school and attended Albright College and Penn State University majoring in Kinesiology. Cortney received an early acceptance into the accelerated PACE program through Thomas Jefferson University and completed his Bachelor and Masters Degree work there.

For almost 10 years, Cortney has worked as an Orthopedic Physical Therapist in South Jersey. During this time, Cortney has treated patients in all levels of rehabilitation. His patients have included Division 1 and Olympic athletes, as well post-surgical and everyday sprains and strains.

Cortney specializes in Manual Therapy and has received advanced training and certifications in his field. These specialty certifications include Active Release Technique (ART), Myofascial Release, and he is currently one of the only Physical Therapists in New Jersey to be certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling. Trigger Point Dry Needling is an advanced practice of Physical Therapy using small needles to treat painful and restricted muscle tissue. Dry Needling is utilized largely by the US Military and numerous professional sports teams. This progressive treatment is now available to all of our patients.

In his spare time, Cortney enjoys spending time with his family, running obstacle races, golfing, and fishing. Cortney keeps his rooting interests close to home, as an avid supporter of the Philadelphia sports teams.
